Tribute to the Southwest

Last summer, the twins and I went on an epic adventure, spending time across New Mexico and Arizona. I created a few paintings to memorialize the trip - a physical tribute - to honor the gifts that surround us and the places we visited along the way, which is one of the main reason I create art.⠀

- Art establishes and makes tangible a time, a place, a thought, an idea.⠀

- Art gives an opportunity to endow new life and new meaning into the ordinary.⠀

- Art gives an opportunity to design your own world, and, as in your children, create a significant immortality.⠀

This original painting of The Poinsett Bridge, the oldest bridge in South Carolina and possibly the Southeast was built in 1820 and believed to be designed by Robert Mills. It was part of a road from Columbia, SC to Saluda Mountain. Check out this original: https://www.craigragsdale.com/originals/poinsett-bridge
